My name is Chris Likourgiotis and last January 2010, I decided to change the direction of my life and my health by turning a dream of mine into reality.

For years I have felt a mystical attraction to the Himalayas and the very thought of walking on the "roof of the world" has been a dream of mine. But as life happens, we tend to sometimes dismiss such dreams as we get on with our lives and responsibilities.

On September 23, 2010, I will be departing for Kathmandu, Nepal where I will spend 28 days exploring and trekking through the middle hills and mountain regions of the Himalayas and ultimately reaching Everest Base Camp (EBC) and climbing to the summit of Kala Patthar (18,209 ft. above sea level).

In order to successfully accomplish this challenging trek, I stopped smoking and started a 6 day/week exercise program. I also lost 40 pounds in the process.
